We all know that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but unfortunately it is not the most environmentally- friendly. Not surprisingly, with all the gift-buying and excess decorations, Christmas is one of those holidays with plenty of waste.
The amount of wrapping paper thrown away at Christmas in the UK alone would stretch to the moon, according to the official Gov.UK page. We also consume enough card packaging to cover Big Ben nearly 260,000 times.
Christmas is a time to have fun with our family and enjoy ourselves, but that does not need to come with an expense for the environment.
