About this author

Lizzie Harper is a freelance natural history and botanical illustrator with a keen love of nature. Her scientific training as a zoologist helps complement her illustrations. She works in watercolour, pencil and pen, producing illustrations for leading book and magazine publishers.

With over 25 years experience as a freelance illustrator, she has a broad range of clients, from advertising agencies and local conservation trusts to postage stamp designers and environmental charities.  Her proudest moment was illustrating Favid Attenboroughs' "A Life on Our Planet", but Lizzie relishes the challenge that each and every commission brings.

She shares her skills by teaching occassional botanical art workshops, and is really excited to be able to reach a wider audience thanks to her two new David & Charles titles, "Art in the Field: Wildflowers" and "Art in the Field:Fungi".  Both are published in spring 2027, and are available for pre-order now.
